Definition
Design is a process of making decisions. When we have a problem, we design a solution. In other words, to design is to formulate a plan to satisfy a particular need and to create something with a physical reality. Consider for an example, design of a table. We can list the procedures:
(a) Purpose: Is it a dining table or a reading tble? We have to know its purpose.
(b) Style: How should we make it to fit the purpose? Is it for a child or an old man?
(c) Resource: What do we use to create the table? Expensive does not mean high quality; cutting corners would as well mean compromising on the quality.
(d) Aesthetics: Impression can be lasting.
